Receiving general direction from the Technical Director and the Medical Director of VasCore, the primary responsibility of the Assistant Technical Director is to supervise the Technical Reviewer Team; review and analysis of sonographic exams and assist the Technical Director with study start up, training of sites and staff and managing the sonographic technical activities of the Vascular Ultrasound Core Laboratory. The Vascular Ultrasound Core Laboratory at Massachusetts General Hospital. VasCore was founded in 1997 to assist sponsors in the development and oversight of protocols, image analysis, and reporting of imaging protocols for non- cardiac vascular device and pharmaceutical trials. Since its’ inception, VasCore has participated in over 160 clinical trials, and now interacts with over 60 countries around the World. VasCore is the largest of its’ kind in the World. VasCore has maintained its’ position based on three critical components of success: (1) the leading reputation for knowledge in vascular ultrasonography and clinical trial design and performance; (2) unparalleled customer service; and (3) strict attention to detail.
Serves as a procedural and technical expert, including performing Technical Reviewers functions.
Supervises and provides daily support to Technical Reviewer Team.
Analyze and review all documents sent to Vascore per our Standard Operating Procedures
The Technical Reviewer will check the Vascular Ultrasound Core Laboratory case/materials for the following:
Completeness of the case/study documents Subject Identification Code Clinical Site Identification Number Correctly labeled media Notify appropriate personnel of cases to be over-read Over–read cases based on the VUCL SOPs
Assist Technical Director in the preparation of study deliverables and study related documents; sonographic protocols, examiner worksheets and case report forms.
Management of all clinical study activity conducted in the core laboratory.
Working directly with company sponsors on project development.
Acting as liaison for sponsor and clinical sites; providing communication between sites, study coordinators, physicians and sonographers, sponsors and the vascular ultrasound core lab regarding the details of ongoing studies.
Providing technical support to clinical sites.
Educating and training clinical sites; including assisting the Technical Director in investigator meeting presentations and webinars.
Providing advice on other technical aspects of active studies.
Performing qualitative and quantitative analysis of vascular sonographic exams.
Assist Administrative Manager with the monitoring open corrective action plans which include the Technical Reviewer Team.
Responsible for the orientation of all new Technical Reviewer Team members.
Responsible for the coordination and maintenance of the Technical Reviewer Team training documentation.
Human Resources related Responsibilities:
Supervises and provides daily support to Technical Reviewer Team Participates in recruiting activities, seeking best candidates for all vacancies.
Works with Technical Director, Medical Direct and Administrative Manager to evaluate performance, develop and implement improvement plans and undertake corrective action as necessary for the Technical Reviewer Team.
Ensures that all performance evaluations are completed in a timely manner and in compliance with hospital and Divisional policies and procedures.
Manages staff work schedules to ensure appropriate coverage and minimal overtime
Works with individual staff to identify and achieve their developmental goals (technical experience, further education, etc.)
Processes HR transactions in Peoplesoft Manager Self Serve for Team Leads and staff, including merit adjustments, terminations, bonuses, and other salary adjustments.
Processes weekly time in Kronos for Technical Reviewer Team.
Supervises scheduling to ensure efficiency.
Monitors and reports volume and other statistics.
Participates in capital and operations budget process with Leadership Team.
Ensures necessary supplies are available for Technical Reviewer Team.
Provides temporary coverage for the Technical Director of Vascore at meetings, during vacations or other time off, as needed. Serves a point person for urgent Vascore issues and executes leadership skills as needed.
Certification by ARDMS as a Registered Vascular Tech (RVT); minimum of 5 years
RVT certification must be maintained throughout period of employment
Minimum of 7 years clinical experience conducting vascular ultrasound exams
Minimum of 5 years clinical experience in an ICAVL accredited laboratory
Recommended 3 to 5 years experience in a supervisor role of a clinical vascular lab and or school of ultrasound educator
