The Mgr-Laboratory 1 manages the daily operations of the Laboratory.
Develops specific departmental goals, standards, and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization.
Develops and implements policies, procedures, standards and initiatives.
Manages staff relations including performance management, staff satisfaction and conflict management. Performs and oversees scheduling, recruitment, and payroll.
Monitors departmental budgets, regulatory compliance, departmental contracts, and vendor relations. Determines and justifies needs for equipment purchases.
Identifies and implements cost/efficiency improvements.
Performs advanced data collection and analysis to support and enhance System Laboratory performance.
Performs quality management tasks such as developing and supporting Laboratory Improvement activities to assure the highest technical and service quality of laboratory services provided to hospital and outreach clients.
Responds to and resolves as appropriate: problems, complaints, errors, accidents, or concerns regarding departmental services or activities.
One or more of the following:
MT (ASCP), MLS (ASCP), CLS (NCA) or Canadian Medical Laboratory Technologist certification by CSLT/CLMLS required OR certification as a medical technologist in a single lab discipline by either ASCP and NCA required.
Bachelor's Level Degree
Bachelor's level degree from a regionally accredited college/university including courses in biological science, chemistry and mathematics required Successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Medical Technologist program required Master's degree and/or specialty certification in discipline preferred
One year of clinical laboratory experience as an ASCP certified technician preferred. Must meet education/experience requirements for certification as outlined by ASCP-BOC.
