The Technical Operation Specialist is responsible for troubleshooting, evaluating and improving clinical assays using LCMS methods. Responsibilities include developing and implementing method modifications under the supervision and technical guidance and instructions of scientific and medical directors. The incumbent actively supports and complies with all company and departmental policies and procedures.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities 1. Under supervision: develops, plans, and executes proactive approaches to optimize and modify existing tests and improve assay efficiencies. 2.Responsible for the evaluation, validation, and implementation of new laboratory instruments and methodologies. 3.Responsible for evaluation, validation, and implementation of cost saving initiatives and process improvements. 4.Ensure appropriate documentation is in place to comply with guidelines of inspection agencies, manufacturers and department recommendations. 5.Maintain a high level of competency and expertise in the area of instrumentation (i.e. reading related articles, attending workshops, in-house lectures, off-site training and seminars). 6.Provides technical and educational support to lab staff for laboratory protocols and procedures. 7.Coordinates and initiates repairs, and preventative maintenance of instruments in partnership with Operations and R&D. 8.Adheres to all established laboratory safety requirements. Required to use (a) personal protective equipment, including latex gloves (b) engineering controls and/or (c) work practice controls as directed by management. 9.Actively supports and complies with laboratory policies and procedures. 10.Maintain compliance with all regulatory agency requirements through documentation, audits, and corrective action. 11.Performs other job-related/miscellaneous duties as assigned by Operations and/or Scientific Management.

Qualifications Experience, Education, and Licensure
Qualifications for this position pertain to full-time employees. The following requirements for academic/experience criteria must be fulfilled.
Bachelor of Science (BS) or above (preferably in life science, engineering, or computer science information) from an accredited college or university with at least 5 years of work experience in mass spectrometry. Master and Ph.D. degrees are preferred.
Prior hands-on experience with HPLC and mass spectrometry methods and software is required.
Prior hands-on method development, validation, and improvement experience is highly preferable.
Prior clinical laboratory experience is preferable.
