Under the supervision and direction of the Chief of Anatomic Pathology, and/or the Director of Operations, Anatomic Pathology, and/or the Clinical Specialist - Supervisor, the Clinical Specialist (Pathologists' Assistant) provides support to the Anatomic Pathology Department, at Northridge Hospital Medical Center and Outreach. Responsibilities include description, photographing, grossing, of specimens and assistance with frozen sections, cytology procedures, bone marrows, renal biopsies and autopsies. The Pathologists' Assistant will assist with administrative functions including preparation and administrative maintenance of protocols, procedures, reports, data and instruments and will perform administrative, budgetary, teaching and other duties as assigned.
A Current ASCP Certification or abilty to obtain ASCP Certification within the year is required. Under the direction of the Chief of Anatomic Pathology, and/or Director of Operations, Anatomic Pathology, and/or Clinical Specialist - Supervisor, the incumbent performs established duties according to laboratory procedures and on a rotating basis. Time and type of the assignments may vary upon department guidelines. Incumbent should be able to work independently and be able to trouble shoot when it is necessary. The supervisor will observe and review the incumbent's performance. The Chief of Anatomic Pathology, and/or the Director of Operations, Anatomic Pathology, and/or the Clinical Specialist - Supervisor may adjust duties as dictated by needs.
