AACC (American Association for Clinical Chemistry) is an international society comprised of medical professionals with an interest in clinical chemistry, clinical laboratory science, and laboratory medicine. Founded in 1948, the society has 9,500 members.

POSITION: Emerging Countries Program Manager

STATUS: Full-time, Exempt

REPORTS TO: VP, Programs & Policy

Main Responsibilities

• Managing the implementation of appropriate scientific content for educational and training programs • Evaluating the best mechanisms for providing a variety of educational offerings • Evaluating and selecting technical materials suitable for translation • Overseeing translation and publication of technical materials in print, CD and web formats • Maintaining Spanish and English resources website and developing new web content • Promotion and marketing of the program in the US and Latin America • Attracting and managing a volunteer network • Successful conference management including program development, speaker selection and management, hotel negotiations, marketing and promotion, and evaluations • Conducting successful distance learning programs • Creating and managing partnerships with other with other international societies and associations • Providing staff support to oversight committees • Successfully managing internal and external relationships • Integrating the Latin American programs into the Association’s other international and domestic activities • Manage ongoing donor relations • Negotiate advantageous contracts with vendors • Develop and manage program budgets • Write reports, promotional materials, and other materials for technical and lay audiences • Effectively present program related information to technical and lay audiences, Association leadership, sponsors, and others • Engage in continuous quality improvement of the program, evaluating the effectiveness of current efforts and recommending and implementing improvements • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Documented knowledge of laboratory operations and quality control procedures • Fluency in Spanish required, native Spanish-speaker preferred • Ability to speak and write effectively for scientific audiences, donors, volunteers, and other staff • Ability to read and interpret documents, such as guidelines, technical manuals, training materials, and procedure manuals • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence • Outstanding organizational skills with excellent attention to detail • Adept and decisive decision maker with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and in a team environment • Demonstrated skill in oral and written communications • Flexibility and ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines • Demonstrated ability to create and maintain successful partnerships internally and externally • Able and willing to travel internationally

Education and Experience: The ideal candidate will possess a combination of the following education and/or equivalent experience: • Education: A Bachelor's of Science degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or medical technology required. • Experience: At least two years experience managing or providing educational programming is required. • Experience as staff or in a volunteer position in a professional society is highly preferred.
