This is a hands-on, first line supervisory position for the A.M. shift (Day Shift) in the Singulex Clinical Laboratory. This supervisor is responsible for supervising assigned Day shift clinical laboratory personnel (TBD) and the day-to-day operations and “Technical Supervision”, for all hematology testing. The Day Shift Supervisor assists the Clinical Laboratory Leadership team with operational and administrative functions that facilitate laboratory functions and quality objectives. In addition, the Day Shift Supervisor acts as a clinical laboratory scientist as needed and to cover employee absences and/or increased production demands.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Help coordinate employee schedules, supervise employees, and provide guidance to establishing goals and objectives and measures. • Help supervise day-to-day operations of the clinical laboratory. • Perform testing on patient specimens according to standard operating procedures as needed, interpreting and reporting patient results, and performing quality control and quality assurance procedures while complying with all applicable local, state, and federal laboratory requirements. • Responsible for supervising the validation and ongoing maintenance of laboratory equipment and will play a major role in the introduction of new test methods into the laboratory. • Provide guidance while troubleshooting complex problems and act as a liaison between the staff consisting of: Clinical Laboratory Assistants (CLA), Clinical Laboratory Technicians (CLT), Clinical Laboratory Scientists (CLS) and the rest of the Clinical Laboratory Leadership Team. • Help the Clinical Laboratory Leadership team by providing official Technical Supervision for Hematology testing. • Must exhibit strong leadership, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, and must demonstrate the ability to analyze complex issues and make sound decisions in a timely manner. • S/he will flexibly respond to and lead change, adapting quickly to evolving circumstances, addressing difficult issues quickly, fairly, and ethically, remaining professional and composed under pressure, and communicating team goals, priorities, and issues effectively across all levels of the laboratory and across departments. • Assist in development of protocols for Singulex testing and Quality Assessment. • Accurately perform calibration checks, testing and maintain competency on all diagnostic instruments in the clinical laboratory. • Assure accuracy and completeness utilizing quality control procedures, including all relevant documentation. • Utilize manual and fully automated laboratory system for accessioning, result approval, Quality Assessment activities, reports, and result delivery processes. • Assist with all Quality Assurance activities and documentation to assure all test results approved meet all quality standards. • Assist with training of additional laboratory personnel as needed. • Assist Processing Supervisor with inventory management. • Provide supervision of laboratory staff. • Perform kit qualification as needed. • Perform other duties as assigned.
