We are seeking an immediate fill for full-time Family Medicine or Internal Medicine Physicians to serve at themain campus of the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center inMountain Home (Johnson City), TN. This physician must coordinate care for a panel of outpatients as assigned by MHVAMC, evaluate and treat acute and chronic health problems for scheduled and unscheduled patients in the clinic setting, perform histories and physical exams, perform office procedures within privileges as appropriate, prescribe medications as appropriate. Incumbent must order routine laboratory, radiological and diagnostic tests and provide initial interpretation of results, communicate test results to patients, respond to questions and other inquiries from patients, initiate or expedite requests for consultations and special tests. The physician selected must also provide education to the patient and family as necessary, screens patients to determine the need for hospitalization, communicate clinical findings to other providers using the Computerized Patient Record System, function as managing physician for a nurse practitioner or physician assistant as assigned by MHVAMC. Incumbent must be capable of consistent communication and treatment of ourveterans, their representatives, visitors and all VA staff in a courteous, tactful and respectful manner. The physician will provide the customer with consistent information according to established policies and procedures and will handle conflicts and problems when dealing with customers constructively and appropriately, and other duties as described.
Work Schedule: This tour of duty is primarily Monday through Friday, 7:45 am to 4:30 pm. This tour may be temporarily changed to fulfill the needs of the service by the Chief, Primary Care.

- Citizenship of the United States. Noncitizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with Department of Veterans Affairs policy.
- Education. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Completion of a first-year residency, or its equivalent approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which it was completed.
- Licensure. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- English Language Proficiency. Must be proficientin spoken and written English.
Grade Determinations: The individual must qualify to perform duties as a physician, have completed an accredited residency and/or possess experience which has qualified the individual to perform general duties and some specialized functions and procedures without supervision. Staff physicians may also include attendings who train physician residents assigned in facilities with residency training programs, and consultants who are capable of giving authoritative views and opinions on subjects in their field of medicine.

Physical Requirements: Physicians should be physically and mentally capable to perform the examinations, formulate the diagnosis and treatment plan, and educate residents. Physical activity includes sitting, standing (up to 2 hours), walking (up to 2 hours), heavy lifting (45 pounds or over), reaching above the shoulder, and repeating bending. They should be emotionally and mentally stable and capable of performing the duties of the position.
