- The Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System has a large clinical GI program with excellent support for clinical investigation.
- Dynamic leader with academic expertise, clinical excellence, and expertise in developing and conducting clinical research.
- Supervision of over 5 GI Physician, 3 Physician extenders and duty coordinators, as well as fellows in the GI training programs;
- Programmatic oversight of the GI procedural laboratory, the GI outpatient clinic and the GI inpatient consult service.
Tour of Duty: Monday-Friday & Weekends, Days/Evenings/Nights- 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Other Shifts, as needed (Rotating Shifts).
- Citizenship of the United States. Noncitizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with Department of Veterans Affairs policy.
- Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Completion of a first-year residency, or its equivalent, approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which it was completed.

- Expertise and board certification in gastroenterology and invasive gastroenterology procedures
- Experience in clinical research as Principal Investigation is preferred.
- Excellent in teaching and clinical care.
- Academic credentials to be qualified for a faculty appointment ( assistant, associate or full professor)

- Strong leadership, administrative and interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements:?, A pre-placement physical examination will be completed prior to appointment to determine the physical and mental fitness of candidates. The examination will concerned with the mental and physical ability of the application to satisfactorily perform the duties of the proposed assignment and will include requisite laboratory and other screening as required by Federal regulatory agencies. Physician applicants must have the mental and physical ability to perform core privileges required by the specialty position and addition to any specialty privileges requested.
