The Oklahoma City VA Health Care System (OKC VA HCS) is recruiting for a full time Physician Assistant.The incumbent works in acollaborative team of surgeons, residents and operating room staff to care for outpatient and inpatient Urology patients.The OKC VA HCS is an active teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Screening patients, triaging consults, planning and scheduling clinic appointments.
- Perform physical examinations, pre-operative and post operative evaluation and care.
- Ordering and interpreting laboratory, radiological and diagnostic tests such as Urinalysis, cultures, PSA, and Radionuclide renal scans.
- Prescribe and dispense medication in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and policies.
- Draw blood specimens.
- Make daily rounds to observe and record patient's medical progress, update and summarize medical records, and change orders.
- Administer intravenous solutions, intravesical immunotherapy, hormonal therapy, intracavernosal injection, medications and oxygen.
- Participate in clinical research.
- Provide instruction to medical and allied health students.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm (tour subject to change)

Education: Graduate of a PA training program, or of a surgical assistant program which is accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or one of its
predecessor organizations; and a Bachelor's degree from an accredited PA training program or in another health sciences related field from an accredited college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
Certification: Current and continuous certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). NOTE: Recent PA graduates who are eligible to take the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination (PANCE) may be employed by the VA on a temporary basis for a period of not to exceed two years. English Language Proficiency: Must be proficient in written and spoken English.

- Oneyear Physician Assistant experience with pre and post-op patients.
Physical Requirements: Position requires moderate to heavy lifting and carrying, pushing, walking and standing for extended periods, ability for simultaneous rapid and mental and muscular coordination, near vision correctable at 13" to 16" Jaeger 1 to 4 (one eye, glasses permitted), ability to distinguish basic colors, emotional and mental stability; hearing aid permitted.
