GENERAL DUTY DESCRIPTION: TheOtolaryngology Service provides comprehensive care for patients who have illnesses within the otolaryngology scope. The scope of these activities covers hospitalized patients and all phases and all phases of ambulatory care. Other responsibilities mayinclude education of medical students and residents.
Position will require travel to other VA and DoD facilities to provide care and attend conferences.
Administrative Duties,(if applicable): include, but are not limited to, Leadership responsibilities; HR Staff Management; Time/Leave Management; and Clinical Management.
Clinical Duties include, but are not limited to, Patient Care; Medical/Clinical Knowledge; Clinical Judgment; Interpersonal & Communication Skills; Professionalism and Systems Based Practice.
Education/Teaching Duties,(if applicable): Practitioners are expected to show effectiveness in teaching, monitoring, and coordinating educational activities, and comply with necessary trainee supervision.
Research Duties,(if applicable): Physician researchers will show an ability to identify and define significant Research and Development problems, to plan and execute a precise research program, and to generate effective reports and results worthy of publication. Researchers are responsible for oversight of any research staff that they supervise.
A pre-placement physical examination will be completed prior to appointment to determine the physical and mental fitness of the selected applicant. The examination will be concerned with the mental and physical ability of the applicant to satisfactorily perform the duties of the proposed assignment and will include requisite laboratory and other screening as required by Federal regulatory agencies. Applicants must have the mental and physical ability to perform core privileges required by the specialty position in addition to any specialty privileges requested.

- Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
- Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from an institution whose accreditation was in place for the year in which the course of study was completed.
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Completion of Residency Training or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility forboard certification.
- Citizenship (Non-citizens may be appointed only if it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens)
1. Interest in Otologic Surgery.
2. Fellowship Training.
3. Proof of current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and/or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training at the time of credentialing and privileging and re-privileging will be required.
