The Cardiologist will be administratively responsible to the Chief of Medicine within the Cardiology section. Clinical oversight is provided by the collaborating physician and section chief of cardiology. The physician is responsible for providing consultation on various forms of cardiovascular diseases states, both for diagnosis and treatment. Responsible for recognizing patients appropriate for referral or consultation with the collaborating physician. Some of thefunctions are performed bythe Cardiologistinclude, but are not limited to, the following:
Provides consultation on various forms of arrhythmias, both for diagnosis and treatment.
Serves as alternate collaborating physician
Recognizes patients appropriate for referral or consultation wit the collaborating physician.
Consults with collaborating physicians through personal, telephone, or electronic medical contact.
Manages health care of assigned veteran patients with acute and chronic illnesses
Orders and interprets laboratory and diagnostic studies.
Educates and counsels patient, family and staff.

Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree mush have been obtained from an institution whose accreditation was in place for the year in which the course of study was completed.
Completion of residency training or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Preferred Experience: It is preferred that the applicant is board certified physician inInternal Medicine, and Cardiologist.
