The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is a large, diverse multi-site department whose mission is to create a healthier world through bold innovation in population health, education, technology and research. Under the general direction of the Grossing Room Director and the Director of Surgical Pathology, and supervision of the Department CAO, the incumbent will perform Surgical Pathology Grossing Room and Frozen Section Room duties, including accessioning, gross examinations, photographing gross specimens and performing special procedures.REQUIRED --Must have completed a training program for Pathologists' Assistant. --Must have passed the American Association of Pathologists' Assistants (AAPA) examination hosted by American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP). --Possession of a valid certification as a Pathologists' Assistant PA (ASCP). --PA (ASCP) certification must be current and renewed as required.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT --Must be able to work variable shifts as needed, including weekends and holidays. --Must be able to work occasional overtime as required, and must respond to 'on-call' requirements. --Must be able to lift and move items weighing up to 40 lbs. --Incumbent will also be required to utilize body mechanics (walking, sitting, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, grasping, pushing, pulling, and reaching) when necessary to complete all job duties and functions.
