The Quality and Safety Oversight Group within CCSQ is seeking a Medical Technologist / Clinical Laboratory Specialist to serve as the national focal point for assuring accountability to health care consumers for the necessity, appropriateness, and quality of laboratory services. The purpose of this position is to oversee the complete development, evaluation, implementation, and monitoring activities of health quality and safety standards and other health care procedures for laboratories under Medicare and Medicaid and the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988 (CLIA). In depth CLIA knowledge is required for the position as some of the duties include: providing advice and consultation of quality practices in clinical laboratory services with emphasis on Blood Banking and/or histocompatibility testing and reviewing/approving/monitoring performance of accreditation organizations and/or state laboratory programs.

In order to qualify for the GS-13, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include:(1) Leading or overseeing the implementation and evaluation activities of quality/safety standards for laboratories in accordance with state or federal accreditation standards such as Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) or other accrediting organizations; and (2) Providing advice and guidance to stakeholders regarding quality practices in a clinical laboratory focusing on Immunohematology (Blood Banking and/or histocompatibility) testing.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
