The Integrated Genetics division of LabCorp is seeking a Director to lead the Biochemical Genetics Department at the Center for Molecular Biology and Pathology located in Research Triangle Park, NC. The Center for Molecular Biology and Pathology is a state-of-the-art facility providing testing in the areas of biochemical genetics, molecular genetics and genomics, cytogenetics, and oncology. The Biochemical Genetics department performs lysosomal enzyme analyses, maternal serum screening, and provides testing services for clinical trials. In partnership with LabCorp's Center for Esoteric Testing in Burlington, NC, the department provides metabolite testing for inborn errors of metabolism, including organic acid, amino acid and acylcarnitine analyses. ABCC or ABMGG Board-certified laboratory directors with experience in laboratory management are encouraged to apply.
Direct a team of biochemical geneticists
Provide technical guidance for the biochemical genetics department and interact collaboratively with teams across the organization, including research and development, marketing, and other clinical disciplines.
Review, interpret, and report patient results reliably, accurately, and with integrity
Make clinical decisions, effectively communicate test results, and provide clinical consultations to health care professionals
Provide oversight for quality control and quality assurance as appropriate, including setting quality standards for new tests and procedures and participating in proficiency testing
Comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and maintain familiarity with company SOPs and practices and applicable professional guidelines and assure that the laboratory is in compliance
Analyze data for presentation or publication, review scientific literature and attend scientific meetings
PhD or MD with relevant clinical testing experience
ABCC certification in Clinical Chemistry or ABMGG certification in Clinical Biochemical Genetics
Ability to effectively manage individuals and teams
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and be meticulous
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic setting
Understanding of principles of quality control and assurance
Experience with mass spectrometry technologies and enzyme activity testing
