Memorial Hospital of Carbondale is the flagship hospital for SIH and regional referral center for the 16 county southern Illinois region. Memorial paves the way to bring big city medicine home. Physicians in nearly 40 different specialties practice here, bringing expertise and new procedures, but successfully tailoring them to the particular needs of a rural setting.
This 140 bed hospital is looking for a full-time Lab Core Supervisor to assist with supervising and coordinating laboratory services. A Bachelor's degree in a related field is required. An MLT/MLS, MT(ASCP) or equivalent is required. Three years of clinical lab experience is also required.

Role Specific Responsibilities
Is knowledgeable about all testing and operational activities in areas of responsibility.
Able to trouble shoot and problem solve operational issues
Develops and maintains appropriate policies and procedures for section and department.
Coordinates hiring process in areas of responsibility.
Responsible for documentation required for all staff, to appropriately maintain personnel files.
Supports and communicates Laboratory initiatives and philosophies.
Coordinates departmental orientation, training and teaching activities.
Works with Manager to establish and review departmental capital and operating budgets.
Coordinates competency activities within department including initial training, 6 month competency and annual competency, as required by SIH and accrediting organization.
Serves as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for laboratory procedures, processes and instruments.
Works with other departments using Lean processes to improve patient care.
Participates in Lean activities and promotes Lean process improvement within the department and encourages staff participation in Lean Daily Management.
Responsible for staff scheduling in area of responsibility per hospital and department policy.
Maintains and reviews all required records, reports, statistics, logs, files and other documents as required.
Maintains confidentiality with respect to all employee information.
Maintains appropriate privacy and confidentiality of all patient information.
Maintains and documents continuous readiness for accreditation surveys.
Is familiar with and meets all regulatory standards for the handling and performance of proficiency testing.
Ensures that all laboratory charges are posted in a timely fashion and periodically reviews/audits charges to ensure accuracy of laboratory bills.
