Description

Stanford University Department of Pathology is seeking a motivated and creative postdoctoral fellow for translational medicine research within Prof. Ruben Luo’s team in Stanford Clinical Laboratories.

Our current research focuses on the development of novel diagnostic technologies and discovery of new diagnostic markers. The postdoctoral fellow will be responsible for (1) establishing mass spectrometry methods and technologies to detect and measure biomarkers for clinical diagnosis; (2) identifying biomolecules of clinical diagnostic values, particularly proteoforms of essential proteins; (3) interacting with hospital clinical laboratory staff to implement or support the launch of new clinical tests.

Requirements

  • PhD degree in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, or medical sciences
  • Two years of mass spectrometry research experience, including project design, sample preparation, and data analysis; expertise in top-down or bottom-up proteomics preferred
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point software as well as scientific graph applications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Motivation to independently work on research assignments and create new projects
